World’s Best Food in Food NI Pavilion at Balmoral Show

17th Apr 2019

Visitors to this year’s Balmoral Show will be able to enjoy food and drink which contributed to Northern Ireland being acclaimed as the World’s Best Food Destination at the prestigious World Travel Trade Awards in London last November.  Northern Ireland came out on top in the international competition.  The important global award recognized the success of Northern Ireland’s Year of Food and Drink, an initiative delivered by Food NI.

Visitors will also be able to talk to many of the producers in the Food NI Pavilion at the Show, now among the biggest and best agri-food events in the UK and Ireland.

Thousands of quality products will be showcased by upwards of 100 participants in the Pavilion organised by Food NI, now a major attraction during the 4-day Show.

Michele Shirlow, Chief Executive at Food NI commenting on the showcase, says: “Northern Ireland has undergone a food and drink revolution in the last ten years, resulting in an abundance of outstanding local producers.  A well-kept secret, until recently, Northern Ireland won best food destination at the International Travel and Tourism Awards.  With outstanding taste, short supply chains and award winning companies, visitors are bowled over by our excellence in food and drink.

“To have this showcased at Balmoral Show in the Food NI Pavilion, is great for local producers and visitors who can experience a genuine taste of local food and drink in a setting that reflects Northern Ireland’s culture and heritage and reflects our reputation as an outstanding food and drink region.”

Make sure you visit the Food NI Pavilion at this year’s show to experience the very best of Northern Ireland local produce.  There will be around 100 local food and drink companies and over 30 award winning chefs attending.  TESCO is again supporting the Theatre Kitchen which will bring dozens of exciting demonstrations including vegetarian dishes and how to make the perfect NI cocktail.  Find out about Peas Please and making a pledge for more veg.

The Pavilion will showcase a huge range of exciting products such as a range of quality seafood, award winning cured meats, live baking demonstrations, some of our favourite Northern Ireland brands including Tayto, Cookstown, Moy Park and Dale Farm, and some new additions to the Pavilion including Finnebrogue.

This year’s Show will run from Wednesday 15th to Saturday 18th May, that’s four action packed days of family fun.  Come along and visit us this year, whether you’re from the city or countryside, a first time visitor or repeat show-goer, we hope to see you there.
