Athlete Participation & Selection
To be considered for selection, combinations must currently be capable of jumping 1.40m and have positive competitive results at this level.
All athletes and horses participating in any International competition must be registered with the FEI. Horse and Athlete registration forms can be found here.
Entries are managed in accordance with Art. 272 of the FEI Jumping Rules and will be completed using the FEI Online Invitation System for Jumping.
CSI2* Invitation Rules will apply, found in Annex V of the FEI Jumping Rules with a maximum number of 40 athletes invited and a maximum of 2 horses per athlete.
This means that:
- 30% of athletes are invited in descending order of the applicable Longines Ranking (Compulsory Invitations);
- 30% will be Home Athletes selected by the host National Federation (NF); and
- 40% will be athletes invited by the Organising Committee (OC) on the recommendation of the Selection Panel.
If you would like to be considered for selection by the OC, please complete an Expression of Interest Form and submit by 4pm on Monday 13th April 2026.
Criteria for selection by the OC Selection Panel will be gathered from FEI rankings up to 31st January 2026, February/March results from sunshine tours, SJI/BSJA rankings and results in 2025 and reference to February/March 2026 results, along with selectors knowledge of the current status of animals/athletes.
Ranked athletes (Longines Ranking 301) are required to access the FEI Online Invitation System or FEI Sport Manager App and select Balmoral CSI2* as an event they wish to participate in by Monday 20th April 2026 when final entries close. Please ensure to fill the horse slots to indicate the number and names of the horse(s) you wish to enter. This will assist OC selection criteria. Please also confirm with your NF if applicable.
Please refer to FEI Schedule for further information. For any other queries please contact either your NF or the OC on 07585 505326.
