Trade Stand Awards at the Balmoral Show


The winners of 142nd Balmoral Show trade stand awards were judged on Wednesday 12th May.  The awards are broken up into five categories this year including two new categories, ‘Best Northern Ireland Food Stand of the Show’ and ‘Best Trade Stand with Focus on Renewable Energy’.


The winner of the ‘Best Trade Stand Displaying Agricultural and Horticultural Machinery, Equipment and Vehicles’ sponsored by NI Agricultural Machinery Dealers Association (AMDA) was awarded to Cyril Johnston & Co Ltd.  This award was presented by Raymond McIntyre, Chairman of AMDA and Jillian McIntrye, Secretary of AMDA to Dolway Johnston, Managing Director and David Johnston, Sales Director. 


S & N Granite took the award for ‘Best Trade Stand in the King’s Hall and Nugent Hall’.  The award was presented by David Laidlaw, RUAS trade stand co-coordinator to Michael and Mary Nolan, owners of S&N Granite.


Airtricity were awarded the new ‘Best Trade Stand with Focus on Renewable Energy’ by RUAS trade stand co-coordinator, David Laidlaw.  The award was accepted by Michael Donnelly, Corporate Account Manager and Stephen McAfee, Sales Executive.


Trade stand judge Paul Hooper awarded Moore Concrete with the ‘Best Agricultural, Horticultural or Food Stand excluding Machinery & Equipment’. This award was presented to John Callaghan, Sales Executive and Wilbert Moore, Managing Director.


The Ulster Pork and Bacon Forum were awarded the ‘Best NI Food Stand of the Show’.  This was presented by sponsor Lindsay Lyttle, NI Good Food and judge Paul Hooper, to Keith Smyton, Ulster Pork & Bacon Forum and Sean Owens, Development Chef.


Millwood Crafts were given a special commendation award for their handcrafted wooden farmsets for children.  The award, presented by trade stand judge Paul Hooper was accepted by Benny Robinson, Director and Stephen Livingstone, Manufacturer.


The 2010 judge of the trade stand awards was Paul Hooper, Royal Bath & West Show.
